Oman Launches Free 14-Day Tourist Visa Under New Entry Rules

Muscat, August 2, 2026 — Oman has introduced a new 14-day tourist visa that is completely free of charge, as part of amendments to the Executive Regulations of the Foreigners' Residence Law.
The decision, issued by the Royal Oman Police (ROP) under Decision No. 109/2026 and signed by Lt. Gen. Hassan bin Mohsin Al Shraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs, was published in the Official Gazette on Sunday, August 2, 2026, and takes effect the day following its publication.

What the New Visa Offers
With the amendments, a new paragraph has been introduced to Article 10 of the Executive Regulations, allowing for a 14-day tourist visa to be issued by the competent authority to citizens of certain countries, upon request and subject to specific conditions.
A new entry has also been added to the schedule of entry visa fees under Article 29, formally establishing the 14-day tourist visa as a separate visa category with zero cost.
Conversion Option
Before the 14-day visa expires, holders may convert it into any other tourist visa category provided under the regulations, subject to applicable requirements and prescribed fees. This includes options such as:
10-day tourist visas
1-month tourist visas
1-year tourist visas
Who Is Eligible?
The new visa will be granted to nationals of countries designated by the competent authority.
Important: Omani authorities have not yet published the complete list of eligible nationalities. The visa is available only to citizens of countries designated by the competent authority.
Existing Visa-Free Entry
It is important to note that Oman already allows citizens from more than 100 countries to enter visa-free for short stays of up to 14 days under specific conditions. The new 14-day tourist visa is a separate, formal visa category that can be requested and, crucially, converted into other tourist visa types.

While specific requirements for the new visa will be outlined by the competent authority, travelers to Oman typically need:
