Egypt Visa Fees to Rise to $33 from January 2027: Digital Visa on Arrival to Cost $39

CAIRO, September 24, 2026 — Egypt's single-entry visa fee will increase from $30 to $33 effective 1 January 2027, according to Circular No. 173/2026 issued by the Egyptian Chamber of Travel Companies and Agencies (ETAA) to tourism professionals.
The circular cites a Council of Ministers decision dated 13 August 2026 approving a $3 increase in the cost of entry and transit visas. It also confirms that service, issuance and bank fees, including taxes, of up to $6 may be added on top of the base fee.
What Travelers Will Actually Pay
The headline figure of $33 is the base visa fee. What travellers pay depends on the channel they use.

Clearing Up the $15 Confusion
The ETAA circular serves primarily to resolve ambiguity created by Decree No. 2553 of 2026, published during the summer, which set a fee of $15 for entry and transit visas effective 1 January 2027.
Taken in isolation, that figure could have suggested a $15 addition to the existing $30 fee, potentially pushing the total to $45. It does not.
The $15 charge is already embedded in the current price, where it was set at $12. The increase to $15 therefore represents an effective rise of just $3, not a new charge layered on top.
Cairo's Digital Visa on Arrival: $39
The calculation differs for travellers using the pilot Digital Visa on Arrival at Cairo International Airport.
Since 1 August 2026, Egypt has been testing a system that replaces the traditional visa sticker with a QR code, obtainable either through a dedicated portal before arrival or via automated kiosks in arrival halls.

The system is currently a pilot phase, intended for gradual extension to other airports and points of entry. At launch, authorities stated that operations would be evaluated in Cairo before any wider rollout.
The e-Visa Price Remains Unconfirmed
An important distinction: the digital visa on arrival being tested in Cairo should not be confused with the Egyptian e-Visa, which is applied for and obtained before travel through the Ministry of Interior's official portal.
As of 24 September 2026, the official portal still displays the old prices:
$30 for the single-entry tourist e-Visa
$65 for the multiple-entry tourist e-Visa
No new tariff schedule applicable from 1 January 2027 has been published on that portal. It would therefore be premature to state that the pre-travel e-Visa will cost $39 from January. That figure currently corresponds only to the future cost of the digital visa on arrival in Cairo.
