RIYADH, September 7, 2026 — The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has officially announced that the long-awaited Unified Gulf Tourist Visa project will be launched soon, marking a historic milestone in regional travel integration.
GCC Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi confirmed the imminent launch during the "Security and History Dialogue 2026" conference in Riyadh on Sunday, September 6. Describing the initiative as "an important step towards strengthening Gulf integration," Albudaiwi said the unified visa will enable foreign visitors to travel more easily among the six GCC countries – Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain – supporting the tourism sector and enhancing the GCC's position as a comprehensive regional destination.

Dubai welcomed 19.59 million international overnight visitors in 2025, its third consecutive record year, with GCC arrivals contributing 2.99 million. Qatar received 5.1 million international visitors, with the GCC remaining its largest source market at 35%.
