LONDON, August 7, 2026 — The United Kingdom has significantly expanded its Global Talent visa scheme, allowing more than 100 of the country's most innovative commercial research businesses to recruit top scientists and engineers from around the world for the first time.

Global names including AstraZeneca and Jaguar Land Rover, as well as fast-growing innovators such as Added Value Solutions (AVS) , Denroy Plastics and Ffilm Cymru, are now approved to support researchers through the visa route.

The expansion, announced on August 6, 2026, marks a major shift in the UK's approach to attracting global research talent, opening the previously university-dominated visa pathway to commercial research-intensive businesses.
