Thailand launches THIM immigration super app in 2026. Submit digital arrival cards, e-KYC verification, group travel management. Faster entry for millions of visitors

Bangkok, May 31, 2026 — Thailand is taking a major digital leap in border management with the launch of THIM (Thailand Immigration Management System), a new mobile app designed to make entry into the country faster, smoother, and more secure for international visitors.

Presented by the Thai Immigration Bureau as the future “immigration super app,” THIM allows travelers to submit key arrival information in advance, reducing paperwork and speeding up immigration checks upon landing.

What is THIM and How Does It Work?

Developed in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Digital Identity Co., THIM builds directly on the already-mandatory Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), which has been required since May 1, 2025.

Key features of the new app include:

  • Pre-Arrival Submission: Travelers can fill out their digital arrival card before landing, with data securely transmitted to immigration authorities.

  • e-KYC Verification: The app uses electronic Know Your Customer technology to verify passport information automatically, reducing errors and speeding up processing.

  • Group Applications: Families or travel groups can add multiple people to a single application.

  • Trip Management: Users can manage upcoming trips, update information, and receive notifications about deadlines or changes.

  • Automated Passport Reading: Reduces repetitive data entry for frequent visitors.

The app currently supports English, Russian, Japanese, and Chinese, with more languages planned for the coming months.

Current Status: Testing Phase

THIM is currently in a testing phase and is not yet a full replacement for the TDAC system. According to available information, the app will gradually expand its features, with a possible wider rollout starting October 1, 2026.

Travelers are still required to complete the official TDAC through the portal (tdac.immigration.go.th) for now, but THIM is expected to become the primary mobile access point for immigration services in the near future.

Broader Immigration Modernization Efforts

The launch of THIM comes as Thailand reviews its overall entry rules. The government is preparing to reduce the visa-free stay period from 60 days to 30 days for most travelers from 93 countries, a move aimed at curbing overstays while maintaining Thailand’s appeal as a top tourist destination.

Major General Pratya Prasarnsuk, Deputy Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, said:

"Thailand's immigration system manages approximately 30 million international tourists annually. The border experience should represent the modern and hospitable nation we are. Implementing cloud technology aims to decrease processing times and enhance national security capabilities."

Benefits for Travelers and Thailand

For Travelers:

  • Faster immigration clearance on arrival

  • Less paperwork and reduced waiting times

  • Easier management of multiple trips

  • Improved user experience, especially for frequent visitors and families

For Thailand:

  • More efficient border management

  • Better data collection for security purposes

  • Support for tourism recovery after recent regional challenges

  • Stronger digital infrastructure for future immigration services

Future Vision: A One-Stop Immigration Platform

Thai authorities envision THIM evolving into a comprehensive platform that could eventually handle:

  • Visa extensions

  • 90-day reporting for long-term residents

  • Automated border procedures for more nationalities

This aligns with Thailand’s goal of balancing strong border security with a welcoming approach to the tens of millions of tourists it receives annually.

Practical Advice for Travelers

  • Download THIM from the App Store or Google Play Store

  • Complete your digital arrival card in advance

  • Ensure your passport details are accurate during e-KYC verification

  • Keep the app updated for new features as they roll out

With Thailand expecting strong tourism growth in the second half of 2026, the introduction of THIM represents a smart, traveler-friendly step toward a more modern and efficient immigration experience.
