When to Apply:
You can submit your renewal application up to 12 weeks before your current IRP card expires.
This creates a generous 24-week window (12 weeks before + 12 weeks after expiry) to apply and receive a new card.
Employment Rights During Renewal:
Employers can continue employing someone awaiting renewal for up to 12 weeks after expiry, provided the renewal application was submitted before the current IRP expired.
