NEW DELHI — July 22, 2026 — The Embassy of the Slovak Republic in New Delhi has published updated procedures for National D visa applications for employment purposes under § 15 (1) (b) of Act No. 404/2011 Z. z. on Residence of Foreigners . The updated guidance applies to Slovak employers seeking to bring foreign workers to Slovakia for employment.

The National D visa is a long-stay national visa that authorises its holder to stay in the Slovak Republic for up to one year, with the possibility to travel within other Schengen Member States for up to 90 days in any 180-day period . This visa route is particularly important for Slovak companies facing labour shortages in key sectors.

These dates are the designated opening dates when Slovak employers can send their appointment request emails. Processing may take some time, and employers are advised to wait for a reply before sending follow-up emails.

Important Note: If the same request is submitted more than once, it will not be processed and no appointment will be assigned. Send only one email and wait for a response, which may take several days .

Only a Slovak employer – not a foreign entity, Slovak third party, agency, or manpower agency – but strictly a Slovak employer – a company with its seat in the Slovak Republic and a valid Slovak Identification Number (IČO) – may request appointments .

How to Apply for a National D Visa (Employment)

Step 1: Complete the Excel Form

Employers must complete the official Excel form for submitting a National D visa application (xlsx, 12.2 kB) .

Step 2: Send the Request Email

Employers must send the completed Excel form to the email address: rezervacie.delhi@mzv.sk

Important: Complete guidelines are published in the Slovak language. The Embassy will communicate only with Slovak companies and their Slovak representatives .

Step 3: Wait for Response

Processing may take several days. Do not send repeated requests, as this may disrupt the order of processing .

Step 4: Attend Appointment

Appointments for National D visas are processed through BLS International .

Applicants with a granted residence permit do not need to apply for an appointment. Their applications will be accepted in person at the Embassy on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays between 14:00 and 15:00, with a completed online visa request and required supporting documents .
