ZAGREB — July 10, 2026 — Croatia has announced nearly €535,000 in new funding to encourage Croatian emigrants to return home and successfully reintegrate into the country's workforce and communities.

The initiative, announced by the Ministry of Demography and Immigration, represents the latest step in Croatia's broader strategy to reverse decades of population decline and address critical labour shortages.

A Doctor's Story

Gabriela Ximena Cortes Siles, a doctor who earned her medical degree in Bolivia, said translation costs exceeded €6,000 — preventing her from practising medicine in Croatia.
