BOGOTÁ/JERUSALEM, August 20, 2026 — Colombia and Israel will mutually waive visa requirements for travel between the two countries starting September 1, 2026, reversing restrictions imposed during a period of diplomatic estrangement .

The announcement follows months of diplomatic talks between Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and Colombian Foreign Minister Omar Bula Escobar, as the two countries work to fully restore relations after Colombia severed ties in May 2024 under then-President Gustavo Petro .
