BEIJING, August 20, 2026 — China has expanded its visa-free transit and Hainan entry programs to include citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam, effective August 20, 2026 .

The National Immigration Administration (NIA) announced that the two countries are now covered by both the 240‑hour (10‑day) visa‑free transit policy and Hainan’s 30‑day visa‑free entry policy . With this expansion, the 240‑hour transit program now covers 57 countries, while Hainan’s visa‑free policy extends to 61 countries .

What the New Policies Offer

Under the 240‑hour visa‑free transit policy, citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam holding ordinary passports and confirmed connecting tickets with fixed dates and itineraries — who are transiting through China to a third country or region — may enter visa‑free through 65 open ports, including Beijing and Shanghai, and stay for no more than 240 hours within designated areas .

Under the Hainan 30‑day visa‑free policy, citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam holding ordinary passports may enter through open ports in Hainan Province and stay visa‑free within Hainan for no more than 30 days .
