Utilize the identical name, date of birth, place of birth, and gender identifier
Current passport is not damaged, seized, or surrendered
Have a digital passport photo from a commercial photographer
No observations or notes on the passport (e.g., name too long to print, diplomatic passport)
Are not reporting a lost or stolen passport
Important: Canadians can only apply online from within Canada. Online applications remain limited to passports expiring within six months — the eligibility expansion does not change this requirement.

Canadians can complete their passport renewal application entirely online by:
Submitting the application digitally
Uploading a digital passport photo from a commercial photographer
Making payment electronically
Applicants can also digitally upload supporting documentation instead of mailing original copies.
