Belarus proposes direct flights and visa-free regime with Indonesia for up to 30 days to boost tourism, trade, and bilateral ties.

Minsk, 4 July 2026 — Belarus has formally proposed launching direct flights with Indonesia and introducing a visa-free regime for Belarusian citizens, Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhankou announced following high-level talks in Jakarta.

The initiative aims to significantly expand bilateral cooperation in tourism, business, education, and trade between the two nations.

Key Proposals from Belarus to Indonesia

  • Visa-Free Entry: Indonesia is considering exempting Belarusian citizens from visa requirements for stays of up to 30 days.

  • Direct Flights: Belarus has requested the launch of direct air links to make travel easier for tourists and business representatives.

  • Embassy Opening: Indonesia plans to open an embassy in Minsk, further strengthening diplomatic presence.

Growing Bilateral Trade and Cooperation

According to Minister Ryzhankou, bilateral trade (including services) exceeded $600 million in 2025 and continues to grow in 2026. Key areas of cooperation include:

  • Belarusian Exports: Potash fertilisers, powdered milk, whey, machinery (especially for mining and agriculture), and agricultural technologies.

  • Indonesian Imports: Rubber, seafood, cocoa beans, palm oil, coconut oil, and certain types of equipment.

The two countries are also expanding collaboration in education, with Indonesian specialists receiving training in Belarus in agriculture, medicine, and engineering.

Strategic Importance

These proposals reflect Belarus’s push to diversify international partnerships and Indonesia’s interest in strengthening ties with Eastern European nations. Direct flights and visa-free travel would significantly boost tourism and business exchanges, making travel more convenient and affordable.
