Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced that invitations for the Parents and Grandparents Program 2025 (PGP 2025) will begin on July 28, 2025. This program enables Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their parents and grandparents for permanent residency.

Key Details for Parents and Grandparents Program 2025

  • Application Limit: IRCC will accept up to 10,000 complete applications for sponsorship under the PGP in 2025.

  • Invitation Period: Invitations will be issued over approximately two weeks, starting July 28, 2025.

  • Eligibility: Only individuals who submitted an Interest to Sponsor form in 2020 and have not yet received an invitation will be considered. IRCC will not open a new Interest to Sponsor form in 2025 due to the remaining pool of 2020 submissions.

Alternative Option: Super Visa

For those not selected for the Parents and Grandparents Program 2025, IRCC recommends applying for a Super Visa, which offers:

  • Multiple entries to Canada for up to 10 years.

  • Stays of up to five years per visit.

  • Option to extend stays by an additional two years without leaving Canada.
