Germany's federal government has unveiled ambitious plans to accelerate the integration of asylum seekers into the labor market, allowing them to start working as early as three months after filing their asylum applications.

Germany’s new government, led by the CDU/CSU coalition, has suspended family reunification for refugees with subsidiary protection status. This decision, announced in May 2025, primarily affects Syrian refugees, who make up the majority of those holding subsidiary protection in Germany.
